An award-winning documentary photographer with a background that includes a formative experience at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in her early twenties, Hye-Jin brings a unique artistic perspective to her designs. Each piece reflects her joy, passion for life, and authentic self, infused with an accessible elegance.

Her inspiration comes from both her own personal growth and the incredible people she surrounds herself with, who push her to reach new heights. Hye-Jin once was deeply entrenched in the world of documentary photography, specializing in intimate boudoir sessions, tender moments of childbirth, candid and raw lifestyle family shots, has since ventured into the bustling realm of entrepreneurship in Austin, Texas.

Her journey took a significant turn in 2019 when she dove into the role of owner and creative mind behind Shelley Moon Designs, a jewelry brand grounded in mindfulness, ethical manufacturing, and sustainable materials. This shift was spurred by a transformative weekend retreat focused on mindfulness and meditation, redirecting her career trajectory from behind the lens to the territory of sustainable fine jewelry design.

With a focus on handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces available both online and through various markets and pop-up events, Hye-Jin prioritizes personal connections with her clientele.

Working closely with award-winning Los Angeles artisans who champion sustainable practices, she thoughtfully transforms her vision into timeless pieces - blending her keen eye for design with a passion for mindful craftsmanship.

Life has a way of coming full circle. Seven years ago, Hye-Jin’s journey in jewelry quietly began at this very location, which was then her hair salon. It is now called ArtUs Co. Graciously, the owner offered her a small space to display her handmade jewelry, and it was there that Shelley Moon Designs first took shape.

As of September 2025, she feels deeply humbled and grateful to return to this place - now as the home of her new studio. This time, she enters the space alongside a talented community of local fine artists and makers.

For her, opening this studio felt like a natural, gentle unfolding of the path she was meant to follow. She approaches this new chapter with a sense of peace, gratitude, and hopeful anticipation for what lies ahead.
